In Lisbon ceramic tiles are everywhere and they give us so much information about the Portuguese history, identity and mentality.
We begin the day with a visit to one of the most important museums: the National Tile Museum, located in a 15th century convent!
How where ceramic tiles produced and what was their function? Who where the main artists in Portugal and what artistic movements influenced them?
We stop to have lunch in the city center.
After lunch we start our walking tour: we visit the Rossio and the Baixa districts, where we can see how tiles were used to cover the façades of the 18th and 19th century buildings.
Finally, we explore the Alfama district where we will admire several tile panels!
